Morfin Gaunt: Marvolo's son and Lord Voldemort's uncle; he claims responsibility for the death of Tom Riddle and the Riddle family.

Fenrir Greyback: A savage werewolf with an appetite for children; as one of Lord Voldemort's Death Eaters, he sets out to bite and contaminate as many people as possible to build a werewolf army.

The Half-Blood Prince: The owner of an old copy of Advanced Potion Making that Harry borrows for Professor Slughorn's class. The mysterious owner of the textbook scribbled notes, hints, shortcuts, and original spells that both give Harry a hand and get him into trouble inside the classroom as well as outside. Harry becomes preoccupied with finding the Half-Blood Prince's true identity.

Ernie Macmillan: A sixth-year Hufflepuff student whom Harry likes, despite his pompous manner.

Narcissa Malfoy: ナルシッサ・マルフォイ

HARRY POTTER Books 1 through 5

Euan Abercrombie: A new student whom Harry Potter notices is terrified during the annual hat ceremony.

Ludo Bagman: Head of Department of Magical Games and Sports. Used to be a great Quidditch player for England's team.

Mrs. Black: A portrait of Sirius Black's belated mother, who screams with anger and shame that her house is being used by the Order of the Phoenix everytime the wizards and witches in the house get loud.

Sirius Black: The most infamous prisoner to ever be held at Azkaban, the wizards' prison. He escapes from Azkaban at the beginning of Book Three (PRISONER OF AZKABAN). He was accused of murdering 13 people with a single curse. He was a Hogwarts student many years ago, and best friend of James Potter, Harry's dad. He is also Harry's godfather.

Broderick Bode: An Unspeakable who worked in the Ministry of Magic's Department of Mysteries department before being sent to St. Mungo's. He was murdered in the hospital by a Devil's Snare plant.

Amelia Susan Bones: Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, who oversees Harry Potter's disciplinary hearing for using magic in a Muggle-populated area.

Susan Bones: Niece of Madam Bones, a student interested in taking Harry's secret D.A. class.

Frank Bryce: Gardener for the Riddle family, 50 years before Harry attends Hogwarts. Bryce is accused of murdering the Riddle family, two elderly parents and grown son Tom.

Millicent Bulstrode: Very large, bullying girl who lives in Slytherin.

Cho Chang: Seeker on the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. One year above Harry, who has a crush on her.

Penelope Clearwater: Percy Weasley's girlfriend; a fellow Hogwarts student.

Michael Corner: Another student who turns up to hear Hermione and Harry discuss private D.A. classes. He "went out" with Ginny for awhile.

Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle: The two sidekicks of bully Draco Malfoy.

Colin Creevey: Student at Hogwarts, one year behind Harry. In awe of Harry's fame. (And a bit of a pest about it).

Dennis Creevey: Younger brother of Colin Creevey. The Creevys are Harry's fellow Hogwarts students and Gryffindor residents.

Crookshanks: Hermione's very big and very nasty cat. Appears in Book Three (PRISONER OF AZKABAN).

Bartemius "Barty" Crouch: Works in the Department of International Magical Cooperation.

Roger Davies: A guy who sits in a shop with his girlfriend while on a Hogsmeade holiday. He intimidates Harry, who is on his first date with Cho for Valentine's Day.

Fleur Delacour: Silvery haired, veela-like girl from Beauxbatons.

Dilys Derwent: A former healer at St. Mungo's and headmistress of Hogwarts. Ron and Harry saw her portrait when they visited Mr. Weasley.

Amos Diggory: Father of Cedric, member of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures.

Cedric Diggory: Handsome Hogwarts student. Captain and Seeker of the Hufflepuff House Quidditch team.

Dobby: House-elf that appears in Harry's bedroom (at number four, Privet Drive) in Book Two. He warns Harry not to return to Hogwarts.

Elphias Doge: A member of the Order of the Phoenix described as a "wheezy voiced Wizard."

Professor Albus Dumbledore: Wise and powerful wizard, headmaster of Hogwarts, Harry supporter.

Dudley Dursley: Harry's chubby, spoiled and bratty cousin, also a Muggle.

Petunia Dursley:
Harry's Muggle aunt, sister to Harry's late mother, Lily.

Vernon Dursley: Harry's mean uncle; a Muggle; head of household at number four, Privet Drive.

Marietta Edgecomb: A friend of Cho's who tries to betray Harry Potter and the others. She only gets so far before Hermione's spell takes affect, branding her a "sneak" with horrible spots on her face.

Errol: An aged owl belonging to the Weasley family.

Fang: Hagrid's very large black pet boarhound.

Mrs. Arabella Doreen Figg: A squib who lives near the Dursley's charged with helping to keep an eye on Harry during his time away from Hogwarts.

Argus Filch: School caretaker/janitor at Hogwarts. Owner of the nasty watch-cat named Mrs. Norris.

Seamus Finnegan: One of Harry's classmates and fellow Gryffindor resident.

Mundungus Fletcher: Along with Mrs. Figg, he is supposed to watch Harry while he is living with the Dursleys. He was out buying cauldrons when the dementors tried to attack Harry and Dudley.

Fat Friar: One of many ghosts roaming the halls of Hogwarts.

Fat Lady: Her talking portrait hangs at the entrance of Gryffindor Tower.

Fawkes: The phoenix bird in Dumbledore's office; his faithful pet.

Nicolas Flamel: Former partner of Dumbledore, was an alchemist (someone who worked at changing metal into gold). Flamel was the only person to ever create the Sorcerer's Stone. It assists in alchemy and produces the Elixir of Life, which makes the drinker immortal.

Professor Flitwick: Teacher of Charms at Hogwarts.

Fluffy: Vicious three-headed dog that guards the hiding place of the Sorcerer's Stone.

Vicky Frobisher: A student who tries out for The Keeper position on the Gryffindor Quidditch team. She is highly involved in other society activities so Angelina turned her down in favor of Ron.

Cornelius Fudge: Minister of Magic, head of the Ministry of Magic.

Anthony Goldstein and Terry Boot: Students Harry Potter did not know who turn up in Hogsmeade to hear Hermione and Harry discuss the secret D.A. class.

Golgomath: The Gurg who took over after Karkus's death. He was not interested in Hagrid's purpose and was seen in the company of Death Eaters.

Hermione Granger: Fast-talking, overachieving witch. Hermione is half-Muggle and one of Harry's closest friends. She's usually on her way to the library.

Hagrid: Full name: Rubeus Hagrid. He is the giant-sized but gentle Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts. He also becomes one of Harry's protectors and closest friends. Fond of and kind to just about any type of creature; official gamekeeper of the school. Expelled from Hogwarts years ago.

Hedwig: Harry's pet owl, talented at delivering mail.

Madam Hooch: The school's flying teacher. She instructs first years on how to ride their brooms. Also Quidditch referee.

Geoffrey Hooper: Another Keeper try-out who is turned down in favor of Ron; Angelina felt he whined too much.

Hestia Jones: Described as a "pink cheeked" with black hair, Hestia was among the other wizards who shepherded Harry from the Dursleys to the Order of the Phoenix headquarters.

Bertha Jorkins: Witch and employee of Ministry of Magic; works for Ludo Bagman. She has gone missing at the beginning of GOBLET OF FIRE.

Professor Karkaroff: Headmaster of Durmstrang wizarding school.

Karkus: The Gurg, or chief, that Hagrid first met during his quest to align the giants with Dumbledore. Karkus is willing to listen to Hagrid and Olympe, but was killed by fellow giants in their ongoing fights among themselves.

Kreacher: Former house-elf of Mrs. Black, a lazy and angry elf who does not appreciate the Order of the Phoenix members living in Mrs. Black's house.

Viktor Krum: Seeker for the Bulgarian team; Ron's favorite Quidditch player. Student at Durmstrang.

Gilderoy Lockhart: Vain teacher who takes the Defense Against the Dark Arts position in Book Two (CHAMBER OF SECRETS).

Alice Longbottom: Neville's mother who is in St. Mungo's because of Voldemorte supporter Bellatrix Lestrange, who had used the Cruciatus Curse on Alice and her husband (Neville's father), Frank Longbottom.

Mrs. Longbottom: Neville's grandmother who meets Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Ginny for the first time.

Neville Longbottom:
Bumbling student who is always losing things.

Luna Lovegood: A strange, often silly and puzzling Ravenclaw student whom Harry, Ron, and Hermione meet on the train ride back to Hogwarts.

Professor Remus J. Lupin: Teacher of Defense Against the Dark Arts in Harry's third year at Hogwarts. Not what he seems.

Draco Malfoy: Nasty, snobbish know-it-all who constantly bullies Harry. Malfoy's father is rumored to have been on the Dark Side with Voldemort (practicing evil magic).

Lucius Malfoy: Draco's father, a governor of the Hogwarts board.

Professor Marchbanks and Professor Tofty: Two elderly wizard professors who visit the school and give the fifth-year students their O.W.L. examinations. Tofty is delighted with Harry Potter's abilities.

Aunt Marge: Vernon Dursley's cruel and crabby sister. Harry puts an inflating spell on her in Book Three (PRISONER OF AZKABAN), making her blow up like a balloon.

Madame Maxime: Headmistress of Beauxbatons wizarding school. Is unnaturally large--giant-like. She accompanies her students to Hogwarts for the Triwizard Tournament.

Professor Minerva McGonagall: Deputy headmistress of Hogwarts, head of Gryffindor, Harry supporter.

Montague: The new captain of the Slytherin Quidditch team. He is described as being built like Dudley.

Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody: Former Auror. Used to work for the Ministry of Magic. Becomes Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher in Harry's fourth year at Hogwarts. Old friend of Dumbledore's. Has lots of scars and a magical eye that can see in all directions. Not who he seems, though....

Moaning Myrtle: Ghost that haunts one of the toilets in the girls' bathroom.

Nearly Headless Nick: Real name: Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington. Resident ghost of Gryffindor Tower, where Harry lives.

Mr. Ollivander: Wand-maker of Diagon Alley. Harry and other students bought their wands from him; Ollivander weighs the wands for the Triwizard Tournament.

Parvati Patil: Identical twin of Padma Parvil; both are students at Hogwarts. Friends of Ron, Hermione and Harry.

Peeves the Poltergeist: One of many ghosts floating in the halls at Hogwarts.

Perkins: A colleague of Mr. Weasley who tells Weasley and Harry that the hearing has changed rooms, causing Harry to be late for his important meeting.

Madam Pince: Hogwarts librarian.

Sturgis Podmore: A blond, "square-jawed" wizard who helped safely escort Harry from the Dursleys to meet with the other wizards at witches at Sirius's house.

Madam Pomfrey: School nurse at Hogwarts.

Harry Potter: Star of all the books. Harry is an English orphan forced to live with his only living relatives, the nasty and selfish Dursleys, at number four, Privet Drive. On his eleventh birthday, Harry learns that his deceased parents were a famous witch and wizard and he has inherited their magical talent. He also learns he has been accepted to study at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Has unruly black hair, glasses, and a lightning bolt scar on his forehead.

James Potter: Harry's father; a powerful wizard.

Lily Potter: Harry's mother; a powerful witch.

Augustus Pye: A Trainee Healer for the First Floor, "Dangerous" Dai Llewellyn ward.

Professor Quirrell: Nervous, stuttering teacher of Defense Against the Dark Arts during Harry's first year at Hogwarts. But he's not exactly what he seems….

T.M. Riddle: a.k.a. Tom Riddle. Past student of Hogwarts who received a school award for special services. Harry and Ron discover his diary in Book Two (CHAMBER OF SECRETS). Not who he seems ... has a secret identity.

Augustus Rockwood and Antonin Dolohov. Two of the escaped prisoners from Azkaban who belong on Voldemort's side. Dolohov was in the prison for murdering the Prewetts. Rockwood was imprisoned for "leaking Ministry of Magic Secrets" to Voldemort.

Madam Rosmerta: Works at the Three Broomsticks.

Scabbers: Ron Weasley's old and tired pet rat; passed down from his older brothers. Not exactly what he seems….

Kingsley Shacklebolt:
An Auror who is also a member of the Order of the Phoenix. Harry meets him at the Dursley's. He works at the Ministry of Magic.

Professor Sinistra: Astronomy teacher at Hogwarts.

Rita Skeeter: Nasty, relentless reporter for The Daily Prophet. Writes exaggerated, untrue stories for the paper, causing trouble for just about everyone. Always lurking around Hogwarts looking for interviews.

Hippocrates Smethwyck: A Healer-in-Charge at St. Mungo's, responsible for the First Floor, "Dangerous" Dai Llewellyn ward.

Zacharias Smith: Aggressive, blond, Hufflepuff player who challenges Harry's abilities yet remains interested in the D.A. classes. Ron and Hermione do not like his attitude.

Professor Severus Snape: hook-nosed, nasty teacher of Potions. Seems to have it in for Harry. Snape was a classmate of James Potter at Hogwarts.

Professor Sprout: Teacher of herbology at Hogwarts.

Miriam Strout: Healer responsible for Bode; she was suspended on full pay after his death.

Nymphadora Tonks: Known as Tonks, an outgoing Metamorphusmagus and Auror whom Harry meets just before being taken to the Order of the Phoenix headquarters.

Professor Trelawney: Teacher of Divination in Harry's third year at Hogwarts.

Dolores Jane Umbridge: Senior Undersecretary to the Minister, who often looks at Harry with interest during his disciplinary hearing. Harry thinks to himself that Dolores looks like a toad.

Emmeline Vance: A "stately" witch clothed in an emerald green shaw; another member of the Order of the Phoenix.

Voldemort: Also called You-Know-Who. Fearful wizard who killed Harry's parents and, when he tried to kill Harry, gave Harry his lightning bolt scar.

Arthur Weasley: Ron's dad. Employed by the Ministry of Magic.

Bill Weasley: Oldest sibling of Ron. Very cool, has long hair in a pony tail and dragon hide boots. Graduate of Hogwarts; employee of Gringotts.

Charlie Weasley: Older sibling of Ron. Graduate of Hogwarts; works with dragons in Romania.

Fred and George Weasley: Rowdy, mischievous twins. Hogwarts students, Ron's older brothers.

Ginny Weasley: Ron's younger sister. In Book Two (CHAMBER OF SECRETS) she is a first year at Hogwarts, one year behind Ron and Harry. Has a wild crush on Harry.

Mrs. Molly Weasley: Ron's sweet, hard-working and often loud mom. Has a special place in her heart for Harry.

Ron Weasley: One of Harry's best pals at Hogwarts. Ron comes from a loving and friendly family of many siblings, all with red hair.
